Can I pay off a charge on my credit card if there is no current balance?

I was already charged( credit limit isn't at max anymore) but just want to pay it down a bit since statement is soon and the charge was a bit high. If not how long does it take for a charge to come up as a current balance|||Yes, you can make a payment. If the payment gets there before the charge, you will have a credit balance. If the charge gets there first, the payment will reduce the amount owed. It works out the same either way.|||Within minutes of making the purchase. Incidentally, how can you have "no current balance" if your close enough to your limit that this purchase will put you over.|||You can send them money any time you want.

They will credit the account. If your account balance is zero and you send money, they will still credit the account in to a negative credit balance.
